Kmart said it is recalling two gel pack products amid fears they could contain a toxic substance.

These products are the Anko Small Gel Pak and the Anko Large Gel Pak. Both have been sold in stores and online since June 2018.

Kmart said the products might contain ethylene glycol, which is a toxic substance, instead of the non-toxic glycerol.

If the packaging damage leads to the contents leaking and ingestion, it could result in irreversible injuries or even death.

The small gel pack was sold until December 24, 2025, while the large version remained available until December 21 last year.

The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) oversees this recall. Meanwhile, Kmart urges customers to immediately stop using the gel packs and keep them out of children’s reach.

Returns are accepted at any Kmart store for a full refund.
