Fintech company Hnry officially launches in the UK five years after introducing its innovative service in Australia. The company is setting its sights on four million sole traders.

The company has opened a waitlist for its world-first tax automation service and will begin onboarding clients throughout 2025. Over the past two years, its combined market presence in Australasia has surged by 58%, bolstered by a $35 million Series B funding round completed in January 2023.

Manasé Mtopa, a seasoned chartered management accountant, will head Hnry UK.

“Hnry is uniquely positioned to support UK sole traders navigating the new digital tax requirements. People choose to work for themselves for many reasons, but we’ve found that managing their taxes isn’t one of them. Given the digital transformation happening with tax, we have a perfectly timed opportunity to relieve tax anxiety for millions of sole traders,” Mtopa said in a statement.

Manasé Mtopa is now part of Hnry’s senior leadership team, joining Karan Anand (Managing Director, Australia) and co-founders Claire and James Fuller.

“Our priority is delivering the same seamless experience to UK-based sole traders that’s already transformed the lives of thousands of customers across Australasia,” co-founder James Fuller stated.

Hnry was established in 2017 and has emerged as one of New Zealand’s largest accounting firms, offering a comprehensive digital accounting service tailored for sole traders. The platform manages essential tasks such as invoicing, expense tracking, tax payments, and filings.
