OpenAI has launched a new mentorship programme for early-stage entrepreneurs, named OpenAI Grove. The initiative will run from 20 October to 21 November at the company’s San Francisco headquarters.

Five-Week Mentorship with Early Access to Tools

OpenAI Grove will run for five weeks, featuring in-person seminars, weekly office hours, and expert guidance. Participants will have early access to OpenAI tools and models that are not yet available to the public. Applications are capped at around 15 participants, with a deadline of 24 September.

OpenAI said the programme provides “technical help, community support, and optional pathways to explore raising capital,” giving founders a practical foundation to scale AI startups.

Building on OpenAI’s Pioneer Programme

The launch follows OpenAI’s Pioneer Program announced in April, which focused on founders at the “pre-idea” stage.

Grove is positioned as the next step, providing selected startups the opportunity to execute their plans and potentially continue their relationship with OpenAI after the programme concludes.

Tech Giants Expand Influence in AI Accelerator Space

OpenAI Grove joins a competitive field of accelerator initiatives from major tech companies. Google introduced its Startups Cloud AI Accelerator last year, while Microsoft for Startups partnered with PearlX in April to launch a pre-seed accelerator. Analysts see Grove as part of a strategy by tech giants to influence the direction of early-stage AI innovation.

Launch Coincides with Surge in AI Funding

The programme also comes during a surge in venture capital flowing into AI. A JP Morgan study found that AI firms accounted for 71% of US venture funding in 2025, up from 45% the previous year.

OpenAI Grove offers early access to technology and exposure to funding pathways, combining practical mentorship with a well informed guidance for emerging AI startups.
