Apple has rolled out a sweeping update to App Store Connect, introducing over 100 new metrics to help developers track app performance more effectively.

Announced on 25 March 2026, the changes target key areas like subscriptions, in-app purchases, and user behaviour across iOS, macOS, and Apple’s broader ecosystem.

Developers gain access to precise data on renewal rates, trial-to-paid conversions, and lifetime value per user—all sourced directly from Apple’s records rather than third-party estimates from services like Sensor Tower or RevenueCat. An API enables seamless exports for integration into analytics tools such as Tableau, allowing offline reviews and custom dashboards.

The platform now excels at cohort analysis, revealing how users interact based on download sources, regional rollouts, and promotional timelines.

For example, creators can assess retention from a UK launch against a European one or benchmark their download-to-revenue ratios against industry peers. Up to seven filters can be applied simultaneously—by device, payment method, or otherwise—for targeted insights.

Privacy safeguards include aggregated cohort data and differential privacy methods to anonymise individual stats. A fresh App Store Analytics Guide in the Help section offers practical tips for turning these figures into growth strategies.

This enhancement feels timely as AI agents challenge traditional app models. Nothing’s CEO recently warned that smartphone apps will eventually disappear, overtaken by web-based AI performers.

Apple, however, aims to integrate AI into its lucrative store. Bloomberg indicates iOS 27, due at WWDC in June, will unveil a revamped Siri capable of executing tasks within apps via a new Ask Siri button, with betas showing 40 per cent speed gains that could supercharge the platform’s £200 billion annual economy.

Industry voices approve. RevenueCat’s CTO hailed the metrics for demystifying once-opaque areas. Amid 2.2 million live apps, Apple’s move fortifies its ecosystem against web3 and agentic AI shifts.
