Zoom has rolled out a major update featuring AI enhancements that aim to improve the meeting experience across multiple platforms. Unveiled at its Zoomtopia event, the upgraded AI assistant now works not only within Zoom but also with Google Meet and Microsoft Teams, extending support to virtual and in-person meetings.
Users can now enter their own notes during sessions, which the AI then refines and structures, following a trend set by startups like Granola. A new cross-platform search allows seamless access to files across Google Workspace and Microsoft 365, making information retrieval easier.
Calendar management is enhanced with AI-powered scheduling that recommends optimal meeting times and offers a “free up my time” feature to identify less critical meetings to skip, similar to tools from Clockwise.

Meeting prep is supported by AI-generated task lists and agenda suggestions, while teams benefit from a collaborative AI assistant for real-time help. Zoom is also introducing photorealistic AI avatars that replicate users’ gestures, useful for those not camera-ready.
Although demonstrated by CEO Eric Yuan, these avatars raise deepfake concerns, prompting potential IT safeguards. The feature will be available to consumers by year-end.
Additional updates include asynchronous Zoom Clips for sharing highlights, AI avatars greeting participants in waiting rooms, and AI-powered live translations. The revamped web interface highlights the AI assistant alongside new tools for drafting emails and conducting research.
Technical improvements add support for custom AI agents using the Model Context Protocol, higher video quality at 60fps, and a video management system for organising content.
