TVNZ recorded a profit of $10.7 million in the financial year 2025.
Total revenue decreased by 2.7% to $281.1 million compared to the previous year, which, according to TVNZ, was due to “challenging trading conditions and market disruption.”
This outcome marks a reversal from the $85 million net loss after tax reported in the previous year.
“I’m proud of the commitment and resilience TVNZers have shown to deliver this result,” chief executive Jodi O’Donnell said.
“As a business we’ve made huge strides toward our ‘digital first’ goals, but importantly, we’ve done this while keeping our focus firmly on audiences and advertisers and what they need today.”
The company increased its digital advertising revenue by 12.7% compared to the previous year, with digital now accounting for a quarter of its total advertising revenue.
The weekly audience for the TVNZ+ streaming platform increased by 10.7% from the previous year, reaching 1.59 million New Zealanders.
“We’re focused on managing our audience transition through offering the products and services we know our audiences and advertisers love and securing the best content to air across our channels and platforms,” O’Donnell said.
