Tourplan, a Christchurch-based provider of software for inbound tour operators and DMCs, has secured investment from global firm Insight Partners. The funding will support international expansion and product growth while reinforcing the company’s customer-focused approach.
A Global Solution with Kiwi Roots
Tourplan, launched by Peter Trumic in 1986 in Christchurch, now supports over 450 tour operators and DMCs worldwide. Its SaaS platform, used in 70 countries, consolidates core business functions including bookings, sales, and financials. Backing from investors signals strong belief in its model and market reach.
Fuelling Growth Without Losing Identity
Tourplan Chief Executive Craig Gray emphasised that the investment will support growth without compromising the company’s values or identity. “We believe Insight Partners is a perfect fit for Tourplan’s aspirations without sacrificing any of the product, people, clients, culture, and great platform our business has been built on,” Gray said.
He added that the business is excited about the road ahead: “We see an amazing and exciting future in the next chapter of the Tourplan story.”
The investment is expected to drive product enhancements, support deeper customer engagement, and enable faster expansion into international markets—all while preserving the hallmarks of Tourplan’s nearly four-decade legacy.
Investor Backs Vision for Global Reach
Insight Partners, a New York-based global investor known for backing high-growth software companies, expressed strong support for Tourplan’s goal oriented direction. “We’re thrilled to support Tourplan’s ambitious global vision,” said Michael Shephard, Principal at Insight Partners.
The firm brings a wealth of experience in scaling SaaS businesses, offering operational expertise and capital support to help Tourplan reach the next level. The partnership aligns with Insight’s track record of helping tech companies expand efficiently while staying true to their mission and market.
The backing from Insight Partners positions Tourplan to scale product innovation and enter new markets. Plans include reinforcing its global role in travel technology while continuing to serve clients with the service quality it’s known for.
