New Zealand’s best workplaces have been announced.

In the small business category, property website realestate.co.nz claimed the top spot, while Cisco, a digital communications technology firm, ranked second, followed by recruitment agency Robert Half, healthcare technology company Medtronic Australasia, and recruitment agency Franklin Smith.

The list, created by Great Place to Work—self-described as the “global authority on workplace culture”—was based on confidential employee surveys and independent culture audits.

“This is both a proud moment for us and a reflection of the heart and hustle our team brings every day,”  Kim Hamilton, realestate.co.nz’s people and culture manager, said.

In the medium and large business category, Hilton was named the leading employer.

Retailer and optometrist Specsavers came in second, followed by customer relationship management software company Salesforce, shipping firm DHL, and insurance brokers Rothbury Group.

Great Place to Work general manager Rebecca Moulynox said these companies are “leading the way in showing that a positive workplace culture drives both productivity and sustainable success, as well as innovation.”

“When employees trust their leaders, feel proud of what they do and enjoy genuine camaraderie with colleagues, then performance follows.”

Great Place to Work’s research showed that organisations where employees felt safe to voice their opinions, trusted by their leaders, and supported in maintaining their wellbeing were more successful at keeping employees engaged and performing at their best.
