Samsung Electronics has reported a strong recovery in its third-quarter 2025 results, with operating profit more than doubling from the previous quarter to 12.2 trillion Korean won, surpassing market expectations. Revenue rose 8.85% year-on-year to 86.1 trillion won, reflecting renewed strength after a challenging second quarter.
The semiconductor division led the rebound, with revenues rising 19% from the previous quarter to 33.1 trillion won. The memory chip business hit record sales, driven by growing demand for high-bandwidth memory (HBM) chips used in artificial intelligence applications.
Despite increased competition from SK Hynix, Samsung recently passed Nvidia’s qualification for an advanced HBM product and reclaimed the top spot in the global memory market, according to Counterpoint Research.
Samsung plans to focus on mass production of its next-generation HBM4 chips in 2026 to support complex AI workloads.
On the devices side, the mobile division posted a profit of 3.6 trillion won, boosted by strong sales of its flagship Galaxy Z Fold7 smartphone. The company expects AI’s rapid growth to create further opportunities in both semiconductors and smart devices.
