Chris Tse, a seasoned business and marketing consultant from Wellington, has been chosen as the new Chair of the New Zealand Taiwan Business Council.

The New Zealand Taiwan Business Council advocates for the interests of New Zealand businesses engaged in trade or investment with Taiwan, a country that ranks among New Zealand’s most significant trading partners.

“I look forward to building on the strong foundation that has been laid and creating new opportunities for growth, innovation, and collaboration for New Zealand companies looking to do business in Taiwan,” Chris Tse said.

Tse has taken over the role from Charles Finny, who stepped down at the latest Council meeting. Charles had served as Chair since his election in 2018.

“I am honoured to take on the role of chair of the New Zealand Taiwan Business Council and follow in the footsteps of Charles Finny, who has been instrumental in developing trade and business linkages between New Zealand and Taiwan over many years,” Tse added.

Meanwhile, Finny expressed his pleasure in handing over the reins to Tse, saying, “I am delighted to be passing the baton to Chris. He and his family have been involved in trading with Taiwan for many years. Seven years is a long time to be performing this role. The relationship with Taiwan is in excellent shape, so it is the perfect time for this leadership change.”

In addition to his new position as Chair of the New Zealand Taiwan Business Council, Chris Tse serves as the Executive Director of Apexfresh, a consultancy specialising in food, health, and technology. He boasts over 30 years of experience in Taiwanese business relations, having lived and worked in Taipei. Since 2018, Chris has been part of the NZ Taiwan Business Council’s executive committee.
