OpenAI has launched ChatGPT Pulse, a new feature that proactively delivers personalised morning briefings to users while they sleep.
Available now to Pro subscribers at $200 a month, Pulse compiles between five and ten updates tailored to individual interests and schedules, encouraging users to start their day with ChatGPT much like they would a news or social media app.
Pulse marks a shift from ChatGPT’s traditional reactive model, as it autonomously researches and prepares information based on chat history, user feedback, and connected apps like Gmail and Google Calendar.
Users receive visual cards summarising news, reminders, travel plans, or even family event suggestions, all designed to make the briefings relevant and actionable. Interaction options allow users to expand summaries, ask follow-up questions, or refine what topics Pulse covers using thumbs-up or thumbs-down feedback.

OpenAI emphasises user control, with privacy respected through opt-in integrations and settings to curate content or clear history. Every briefing undergoes safety checks to avoid misleading or harmful information. The feature currently targets Pro users due to the high computational demands of its “compute-intensive” AI work, though wider availability is intended as efficiency improves.
Pulse’s personalised updates distinguish it from generic news apps by combining relevant news with task management and personal insights. OpenAI envisions the feature evolving to handle more complex tasks like making reservations or drafting emails, aiming to make AI a proactive assistant that seamlessly supports daily life.
