Job advertisements faced a 3% increase in July, employment marketplace SEEK said in its report.
The rise in job ad volumes was the first since the start of the year, coming after an 8% decline in the previous month.
Industries that interact directly with customers experienced notable growth, with retail and consumer products rising by 24% month-on-month, hospitality and tourism increasing by 20%, and government and defence jobs growing by 22%. The construction industry also experienced a 14% rise in job advertisements, fuelled by increases in the Design & Architecture and Trades & Services fields.
However, the consulting and strategy sector was the only industry to see a decrease in job advertisements in July, experiencing a decline of 7%.
Certain industries, including manufacturing, transport & logistics, and administration & office support, saw no change in job advertisements month-on-month.
Moreover, all regions except three experienced an increase in job advertisement volumes in July: Southland saw a decline of 12%, Tasman decreased by 4%, and Gisborne fell by 1%.
According to SEEK, Bay of Plenty recorded the highest monthly increase, with job ads up 16% from June. This marks the highest monthly growth the region has seen in over three years. Manawatu followed with a significant rise of 10%.
