Google has extended its AI-powered no-code app builder, Opal, to 15 new countries, including Canada, India, Japan, South Korea, Brazil, and several others across Asia and Latin America.

Launched initially in the U.S. in July 2025, Opal lets users create small web applications simply by describing what they want in natural language, with no coding required.

“When we opened up Opal to users in the U.S. we anticipated they might build simple, fun tools,” said Megan Li, senior product manager at Google Labs.

“We didn’t expect the surge of sophisticated, practical and highly creative Opal apps we got instead. The ingenuity of these early adopters made one thing clear: we need to get Opal into the hands of more creators globally.”

The app uses multiple Google AI models to generate a visual workflow of the app, showing inputs, outputs, and generation steps, which users can edit or expand. Finished apps can be published online and shared via links, allowing others to interact with them through their Google accounts.

Google has also improved Opal’s debugging tools to help users identify errors step-by-step within the no-code visual editor while keeping it simple to use. Performance enhancements have drastically reduced the time to create new apps and introduced parallel processing, enabling more complex workflows to run faster.

Opal competes with platforms like Canva, Figma, and Replit that support non-technical users in designing apps without writing code. Google aims to democratise app development by combining user-friendly visual tools with powerful AI, making rapid prototyping and automation easier for a wide range of creators.
