Visual content provider and marketplace Getty Images has revealed its partnership with New Zealand Media and Entertainment (NZME) to license images from its flagship publication, The New Zealand Herald.
The premium image collection showcases over 10,000 historical photographs from The New Zealand Herald’s 162-year history and will update daily with fresh visual content.
The collection includes contemporary news images alongside a rich archive capturing New Zealand’s history—from key political moments and sporting triumphs to major historical events.
“This partnership allows us to preserve and share both contemporary and archival coverage of The New Zealand Herald, one of the nation’s most significant photographic records,” Getty Images’ APAC Senior Director for Editorial, Cassie Trotter, said.
“With this expanded offering, Getty Images reaffirms its commitment to elevating New Zealand’s visual heritage on a global stage, ensuring our customers worldwide can access the depth, richness, and the historical value this collection represents.”
NZME Chief Publishing Officer Matt Wilson also commented on the partnership.
“For 162 years The New Zealand Herald has proudly documented the moments that have shaped our nation. We’re pleased to have partnered with Getty Images to help ensure these images are preserved, celebrated and accessible worldwide,” Wilson said.
“We have a hugely talented team of journalists and photographers who are producing hundreds of images every week – it’s fantastic to have their talent celebrated on a world stage too.”
