Online food ordering and delivery platform DoorDash has expanded its services to Palmerston North following successful launches in four other cities across New Zealand.
DoorDash first entered the New Zealand market in May 2022, starting operations in Wellington. This was followed by Auckland, Christchurch, and recently Hamilton in April of this year.
Along with Palmerston North, the app has also been launched in Tauranga, Dunedin, the Kāpiti Coast, and Rangiora.
The launch in Palmerston North allows residents to enjoy a wide selection of their favourite local and national food options, including ReBurger, Pizza Club, and Gong Cha.
“We are excited to bring DoorDash to Palmerston North, as well as Tauranga, Dunedin, Kāpiti Coast, and Rangiora. These areas have vibrant local food scenes, and we look forward to connecting Kiwis with their favourite local restaurants and eateries,” DoorDash’s NZ general manager Bradley Thomas said.
The launch of DoorDash in Palmerston North not only benefits consumers but also provides new earning opportunities for local residents who can work as delivery riders or Dashers on the platform. Dashers are given the flexibility to choose when, where, and how they want to work, making it an attractive option for those seeking supplemental income.
DoorDash was founded in 2013 and now has more than 20,000 employees in more than 30 countries. In celebration of the platform’s launch in the five areas in New Zealand, new customers could claim a 50% discount off their first two orders through the app, as well as maximise a $0 delivery fee for their first 30 days.
