Federal Express Corporation (FedEx) has confirmed new actions in Asia Pacific aimed at accelerating progress towards carbon neutrality.
The company said the initiatives, taking effect during the 2025 fiscal year, will be paired with expanded community programmes. Multiple markets are included in the rollout. FedEx said both environmental and social outcomes will be central to delivery.
Responsible Leadership and Innovation Strategy
Kawal Preet, president of FedEx Asia Pacific, emphasised that responsibility and innovation sit at the centre of the company’s growth strategy.
“At FedEx, we are committed to leading responsibly, driving change forward, and channelling innovation to deliver a brighter future for the people and communities we serve and the planet we share,” she said.
Preet noted that in today’s “climate-conscious business environment”, FedEx must balance operational efficiency with long-term decarbonisation and community investment.
Fleet Expansion to Support Carbon Goals
FedEx has set a target of carbon-neutral operations globally by 2040. Its electric fleet had grown to 8,018 vehicles worldwide by the start of fiscal 2025. The company expanded deployments in Japan, New Zealand, Singapore and Thailand.
Six new electric cargo vans began operating in Seoul and Busan in Korea, with FedEx noting vehicles made up around a quarter of its carbon footprint in FY2024.
Smart Technology for Efficient Deliveries
Technology is another lever in FedEx’s push to cut emissions and boost efficiency. The company has deployed its AI-powered Stops Sequencing tool, which dynamically optimises delivery routes in real time.
Sustainable Facilities and Clean Energy Transition
FedEx is greening its facilities alongside transport. The company opened new energy-efficient hubs in Singapore, China and Australia in FY2024.
The South Pacific Regional Hub in Singapore has been powered by solar energy that provides more than half of its total electricity needs since January 2025. The solar infrastructure also supports charging for the site’s electric vehicles, creating a link between renewable energy and fleet decarbonisation
FedEx Cares: Driving Community and Employee Engagement
FedEx’s commitment goes beyond operations into its long-running FedEx Cares programme.
Volunteer participation in Asia Pacific rose 20% year on year, while sustainability-focused programmes increased 14%.
Employee-led initiatives ranged from mangrove restoration in Indonesia to riverbank clean-ups in Tokyo. Collectively, FedEx staff planted 3,465 trees and plants, restoring biodiversity in the region.
Employee Engagement and Education Partnerships
More than 800 FedEx employees dedicated over 1,000 hours to community efforts, gathering and donating 3,600 kilograms of supplies that reached 1,600 beneficiaries across the region. Education initiatives also advanced, with the Library Program in China extending support to 40 schools and benefitting about 9,000 children and teachers.
FedEx sustained its 19-year collaboration with Junior Achievement, which involved 4,700 students from nine markets in circular economy trade projects. The company continues to publish an annual Corporate Responsibility Report to monitor progress.
