The United States Congress has approved legislation requiring the Department of Justice to disclose all unclassified investigative files related to Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted sex offender. The bill sailed through the House with a 427 to 1 vote and passed the Senate by unanimous consent, now awaiting President Donald Trump’s signature to become law.

President Trump, who initially opposed the bill and condemned the media focus on Epstein as a “Democrat hoax,” reversed his stance shortly before the vote. A senior White House official confirmed he will sign the bill “whenever it gets to the White House.”

The legislation, sponsored by Representatives Thomas Massie and Ro Khanna, compels the Justice Department to release the documents within 30 days of enactment. It mandates redaction of sensitive victim information and materials that could harm ongoing investigations.

Only one House member, Representative Clay Higgins, voted against the bill, warning that such disclosure could harm innocent parties by releasing files to an eager media.

The bill’s passage follows a government shutdown delay and intense advocacy by survivors of Epstein’s abuse. Some partisan disputes have emerged, including a move to censure Delegate Stacey Plaskett over text exchanges with Epstein, but these did not stall the legislation.

With Epstein having died in custody in 2019 while awaiting sex trafficking charges, this bill shows a significant Congressional push for transparency on a case that has long captivated public attention. Following presidential approval, the public release will aim to shed new light on Epstein’s extensive criminal network.
