Law enforcement officials in the United States announced that they have apprehended a suspect linked to the fatal shooting of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.

Authorities identified the suspect as 22-year-old Tyler Robinson and stated that he had made remarks to family members implying his involvement in the crime.

Law enforcement officials reported having physical evidence linking Robinson to the shooting, including messages he sent on the Discord chat app referencing the need to “retrieve a rifle from a drop point.”

“Somebody who was very close to him turned him in,” US President Donald Trump said.

Reports stated that the suspect’s father, Matt, contacted a youth pastor, who also serves as a U.S. Marshals task force officer. The officer recommended that Robinson remain where he was. This advice was then passed on to the FBI.

Engravings discovered on the casings recovered with the rifle included “Hey fascist! Catch!” directed at the conservative debater.

Another unfired bullet was covered with the phrase “Bella Ciao” written repeatedly, an Italian expression meaning “goodbye, beautiful” that was adopted by anti-Nazi fighters during World War II.

Robinson was booked into Utah County Jail and is believed to have acted alone.

Initial reports described the suspect as a gunman dressed in jeans, a black shirt, and a black vest, positioned with a long rifle on a rooftop east of the school’s library. Officials stated he wore similar clothing at the time of his arrest and owned a Dodge Challenger matching the vehicle the shooter was seen arriving in.

Charlie Kirk, a well-known conservative commentator and Turning Point USA founder, was fatally shot while speaking to a large crowd at an outdoor event in Utah. He was 31 years old.
