A series of IT system issues hit James Pascoe-owned stores, leading to disruptions across their operations.

The problems have resulted in at least one temporary store closure, with other locations experiencing limited payment options and communication difficulties.

Pascoe stores in Wellington reported ongoing internal IT system issues.

At the Whitcoulls on Cuba Street, only one of three tills was operational, and an EFTPOS machine relying on a 4G connection was used instead of the regular system.

Staff were required to manually track receipts to reconcile them at the end of the day.

Employees also revealed that the store had been forced to close on Saturday due to an inability to process payments.

In a conversation with BusinessDesk, a Whitcoulls staff member said, “The whole back ends down. The intranet, the phones, everything.”

Employees at the Pascoes The Jewellers store on Lambton Quay reported experiencing similar technical difficulties and were also relying on a 4G EFTPOS machine for transactions.

The internal telephone system at the Farmers store in the same district was not operational.

Meanwhile, for a 48-hour period over the weekend, Farmers in Newmarket implemented a cash-only payment policy. Additionally, some staff members were instructed not to change their shifts due to reduced operational requirements.

As of Monday, the websites for Pascoes The Jewellers, Whitcoulls, Farmers, and Stewart Dawsons indicated that they were not accepting gift cards.
