Air New Zealand is gearing up for the upcoming arrival of its two latest Airbus A321neo, with the first plane scheduled to land in New Zealand tomorrow.

Each aircraft will undertake a 19,342-kilometre trip to Auckland from the Airbus facility in Hamburg, making stopovers in Muscat, Kuala Lumpur, and Cairns along the way.

The A321neo aircraft are designed for routes to Australia and the Pacific Islands, accommodating 214 passengers.

The plane showcases the newest advancements in narrowbody jet technology, providing enhanced efficiency and increased capacity to Air New Zealand’s fleet.

The first A321neo, registered as ZK-NNH, is scheduled to arrive at 6:45 PM on Wednesday, 4 June, and will begin operations in the weeks that follow. The second aircraft is expected to reach Aotearoa in late June.

“These new A321neo are a clear sign we’re investing for the future – boosting our international network and delivering more choice for customers,” Air New Zealand Chief Commercial Officer Jeremy O’Brien said.

“It’s about doing what we do best: connecting Kiwis to the world and bringing visitors to our shores.”

“We’re eagerly anticipating getting these aircraft in the skies. We can’t wait to share more soon about where they will be flying. Watch this airspace.

In May, Air New Zealand introduced its world-first retrofitted 787-9 Dreamliner ZK-NZH. The aircraft completed its inaugural commercial flight on May 19, 2025.
