A group of Dutch horticulture companies will travel to China in April 2026 as part of a structured trade and investment programme aimed at converting technical demand into commercial partnerships, organisers said.
The programme, organised by SMM China and coordinated with Dutch Greenhouse Delta (DGD), the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), and the Dutch Embassy in Beijing, comes as European suppliers reassess China exposure amid tighter regulation and rising competition from domestic firms.
Organisers said the programme is designed to connect participants with “key Chinese partners” through seminars, site visits, matchmaking sessions, and a joint Dutch Pavilion, allowing firms to “explore market prospects, strengthen partnerships, and expand their presence in China.”
China’s horticulture sector is undergoing rapid modernisation, driven by demand for integrated systems, advanced greenhouse technology, and specialist inputs.
The appeal lies less in volume growth than in project-based procurement and technology-heavy builds for Dutch suppliers.
According to organisers, activities held last November generated “strong appreciation for Dutch knowledge and technology” and led to “concrete business opportunities,” shaping the structure of the April programme around project exposure and local counterpart access.
The programme opens on 7–8 April in Zhenjiang and Jiangsu Province with a Sino-Dutch horticulture seminar, a project launch, and visits to operating sites. Organisers said the format is intended to provide “first-hand insights into the Chinese market” and “direct access to local decision-makers.”
The delegation will attend the International Innovation and Rural Development Expo in Hefei, Anhui Province on 9 April, before moving to Beijing for the China HortiFlor Expo IPM from 10–12 April.
The participating firms will share a joint Dutch Pavilion offering meeting space, presentations, and a dedicated seminar organised by the Dutch Embassy and SMM China. The programme concludes with a roadshow in Shandong Province from 13–15 April, combining seminars, matchmaking, and additional project visits.
