Nvidia is boosting its presence in India’s fast-growing deep tech sector by joining the India Deep Tech Alliance (IDTA), a group investing $2 billion in startups specialising in AI, semiconductors, space, biotech, robotics, and clean energy.

As a founding member, Nvidia will provide technical mentoring and training through its Deep Learning Institute to support emerging Indian companies.

“We want to provide guidance on AI systems, developer enablement, and responsible deployment, and to collaborate with policymakers, investors, and entrepreneurs,” said Vishal Dhupar, Nvidia’s managing director for South Asia.

Although the company has yet to disclose specific financial details or timelines, its expertise is expected to greatly benefit the alliance.

Sriram Viswanathan of the IDTA noted that India’s innovation pace is quickening, predicting many Indian deep tech firms will gain worldwide prominence within five years. The Indian government also supports this growth, investing over 100 billion rupees via the AI Mission and 1 trillion rupees under the Research, Development and Innovation Scheme.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced India will host the AI Impact Summit in February 2026, welcoming global leaders and technology executives like Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis.

Nvidia’s commitment matches growing international interest in India’s AI market, ranked as OpenAI’s second-largest user base. Competitors like Google have also increased investment, with a $15 billion AI hub planned for Visakhapatnam.
